Electrical Capabilities

The Pavilion utilities three phase four (4) wires; 2, 400 amp – 120/208-volt supplies located back stage left. A UC Davis electrician will assist with both the hook-up and disconnect for your event. If you have questions regarding the electrical capabilities at the Pavilion, please contact the Public Events Manager.

For insurance and liability reasons, the University of California does not permit the use of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) for rigging purposes. Any client that requires rigging of sound and lighting from the Pavilion’s truss system must contract private rigging companies that provide their own liability insurance. There are no tie holes available on the main floor. Concentrated loads throughout the catwalk system must be equally distributed at loads of approximately 2,000 pounds per truss joint.

Lighting Levels

The majority of lighting in the Pavilion consists of mercury vapor lamps, fluorescent tubes, and incandescent lamps. The fluorescent tubes can be shut on and off at will. The mercury vapor lamps, after they are shut off, require 20 minutes to turn back on. The incandescent lamps are on dimmers and can be adjusted.

Sound System

Rental of the Pavilion may include the use of the public address system. This system includes a sixteen channel Allen and Heath sound board, corded and wireless microphones, CD player, tape player, and a hearing impaired system. Additional sound equipment requirements will need to be handled as rentals.

Electronic Message Board

Pavilion management will determine uses for the electronic message board. Use will be consistent with existing University policy. Rental space will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. For questions regarding the use of the electronic message board, please contact the Public Events Manager.

Electronic Multi-Sport Scoreboard

The Pavilion electronic multi-sport scoreboard includes a solid-stage scoring console, which is available to the user. The Pavilion Staff at the sponsor’s expense will provide set-up and operation of the scoreboard system. The Public Events Manager may make exceptions to this policy. If the sponsor of an event provides a console operator, then arrangements must be made for a training session with the Public Events Manager or another designated employee.

The Pavilion has one elevator located in the Southwest corner of the facility that provides access to all three levels of the facility. This elevator is not designed to serve as a freight elevator. All freight should be accessed through the ramps.

The Pavilion has concessions stands in the Northwest and Southwest corners of the facility. In addition, Upper Level North is equipped with a full-service concessions stand for large events.

Loading/ Unloading

Freight entry to the Pavilion is via the loading ramp in the Northwest Arena entrance. The dimensions of the doors at the base of the loading ramp are 8’ tall x 6’ 6” wide.

Additional Notes:

  1. According to California State Fire Codes, it is illegal to post items over doorways and emergency exit signs, or to block emergency exits in any way.
  2. In order to protect the smoke detectors and fire sprinklers in the Pavilion, only weighted helium are allowed.  Non-weighted/loose balloons are strictly prohibited.
  3. Any item that has an open flame requires a Fire Permit issued by the UCD Fire Department, without a proper permit open flames are prohibited.
  4. Any use of artificial smoke or haze must be coordinated in advance, additional fees may apply.
  5. Smoking is prohibited in the Pavilion and within 25 feet of the facility.
  6. Due to limited turnover time between events, the use of glitter or confetti anywhere in the Pavilion is strictly prohibited.
  7. Due to multiple events daily, overnight storage may not be possible.  If storage is crucial to your program, please contact the Public Events Manager to discuss options.  Please keep in mind that additional fees may apply, and each request will be handled on a case by case basis.  The Department of Campus Recreation & Unions is not liable for lost or stolen items.
  8. The Department of Campus Recreation & Unions enforces all University policies, including rules pertaining to catering, fire, and alcohol.  The Department of Campus Recreation also enforces an addendum to the campus alcohol policy.  Please contact the Public Events Manager for additional information.
  9. The Pavilion does not permit potluck events.  Catering is permitted in all of the spaces so long as the caterer selected is on the campus approved catering list.
